Commemorating the Seiko-supported “Datsun 240Z” Safari car that won the 6,200km East African Safari Rally in 1971, widely regarded as one of the toughest races in the world, this highly collectible Limited Edition is available only in a controlled production run of 500 pieces. Featuring a font and color motif modeled after the original safari car instruments, the black dial, framed by a tachymeter bezel, prominently displays the Datsun logo as well as the word “Speedtimer,” honoring Seiko’s legacy of sports timing. Providing chronograph measurement of up to 12 hours of elapsed time in 1/8-second increments, the proprietary caliber 8R48 34-jewel automatic movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of approximately 45 hours and manual winding capability. The movement incorporates a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism allowing for smooth, stutter-free movement of the chronograph hand while providing long-term efficiency, reducing wear and tear and maintaining the power reserve during chronograph operation. For reliable timing, the three-pointed hammer system ensures that all hands return to zero instantly and in perfect synchronization when the re-set pusher is pressed. In stainless steel, with black hard coating for a stealthy look, topped with a dual-curved sapphire crystal and paired with a black leather strap sourced from an LWG certified tannery, this amazing creation includes a date calendar, LumiBrite hands and markers, a tri-fold push button release clasp, and a secure screwdown caseback engraved with the Datsun logo and the Limited Edition production number. Brought my wife's diamond watch to Martin Jewelers to have it serviced. The watch was finished ahead of schedule, the repair was successful, and it was apparent to me that they had also taken the time to clean the watch very well, bringing back its brilliant luster. I like that there is a separate service area. The folks I interacted with were very polite. The store is beautiful and clean with gleaming display cases and plenty of room to walk around and shop. This was my first visit to Martin Jewelers and I will be back for any of my future needs. Abundant pay parking behind the shop and the rear entrance are accessible to the public.
